    I could not do without thee
    O Savior of the lost,
    whose precious blood redeemed me
    at such tremendous cost.
    thy righteousness, thy pardon
    thy precious blood, must be
    my only hope and comfort,
    my glory and my plea.

    I could not do without thee,
    I cannot stand alone,
    I have no strength or goodness,
    no wisdom of my own;
    but thou, beloved Savior,
    art all in all to me,
    and weakness will be power
    if leaning hard on thee.

    I could not do without thee,
    for O the way is long,
    and I am often weary,
    and sigh replaces song:
    how could I do without thee?
    I do not know the way;
    thou knowest, and thou leadest,
    and wilt not let me stray.

    I could not do without thee,
    O Jesus, Savior dear;
    e’en when my eyes are holden,
    I know that thou art near.
    How dreary and how lonely
    this changeful life would be,
    without the sweet communion,
    the secret rest with thee!

    I could not do without thee;
    no other friend can read
    the spirit’s strange deep longings,
    interpreting its need;
    no human heart could enter
    each dim recess of mine,
    and soothe, and hush, and calm it,
    O blessèd Lord, but thine.

    I could not do without thee,
    for years are fleeting fast,
    and soon in solemn oneness
    the river must be passed;
    but thou wilt never leave me,
    and though the waves roll high,
    I know thou wilt be near me,
    and whisper, “It is I.”

    Verse 1:
    Before the cross I kneel and see
    The measure of my sin
    How You became a curse for me
    Though You were innocent
    The magnitude of Your great love
    Was shown in full degree
    When righteous blood, the crimson spill
    Rained down from Calvary

    Chorus:
    Oh, the precious blood
    That flowed from Mercy’s side
    Washed away my sin
    When Christ my Savior died
    Oh, the precious blood
    Of Christ the crucified
    It speaks for me before Your throne
    Where I stand justified

    Verse 2:
    And who am I that I should know
    This treasure of such worth
    My Savior’s pure atoning blood
    Shed for the wrath I’d earned
    For sin has stained my every deed
    My every word and thought
    What wondrous love that makes me one
    Your priceless blood has bought

    Bridge:
    A crown of thorns, pierced hands and feet
    A body bruised, and Mercy’s plea

    I heard this song on the Steve Petit Team Album ‘O Love Devine’. Here are the sobering lyrics:
    “Have I a heart of stone so cold and dark within
    That I can view the Saviour in anguish for my sin
    And never sorrow feel for all He sacrificed?
    Have I a heart of stone to watch the bleeding Christ?
    .
    Have I no eyes to see that I can stand so near
    And watch the Saviour wounded but never shed a tear?
    Can I but coldly gaze upon His painful loss?
    Have I no eyes to see God’s Lamb upon the cross?
    .
    As I behold the blood and view the Crucifie,
    The piercing thought o’erwhelms me: ’twas for my sin He died.
    Lord, make my soul to feel Thy suffering on the tree.
    Lord, break this heart of stone. Lord, make my eyes to see.”

    I saw this on a bumper sticker this morning. Makes sense mathematically and is so true.

    LORD this day grant me insight to plan my strategies,
    courage to tackle the tasks that seem more than I can do,
    strength to complete all my assignments,
    humility to seek help when I need it,
    perseverance in times of struggle.

    Help me LORD to learn and grow each day.
